As part of the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security, the ACDIS library provides a multimedia collection consisting of materials relevant for research in arms control, international security, peace studies, military conflicts, foreign policy, as well as disarmament and nuclear studies. The collection contains over 1,800 books, 1,700 items of gray literature (including technical reports, working papers from research groups, and foreign or domestic open source material), 45 journal titles, 90 newsletter titles, numerous GAO Reports and UN publications, as well as publications specific to the ACDIS program (including theses, videos, presentation recordings and articles). This specialized collection is separated from the UIUC main library in order to keep its materials primarily available to those researchers, scholars, faculty and students who participate in the ACDIS program and have corresponding research interests.
The ACDIS library is located in the northeast corner of the Armory Building, Room 369, just down the hall from the ACDIS main office. Independently run by a pre-professional librarian and graduate student in library science, the ACDIS library aims to provide resource materials that are not otherwise accessible through the UIUC library, as well as reference services, aid in advanced scholarly research associated with the program, and additional library assistance to students and faculty.
